March 1st: Start a Value-add Farm Product Line Class Offering at Ann's Raspberry Farm & Specialt
Start a Value-add Farm Product Line
(13-T1)
Consult with an experienced woman farmer who is nationally recognized for her value-added food products. After a review of the basic steps in food product development, each participant will define her value-added product, learn how an approved recipe gets developed, itemize and quantify ingredients, decide what to grow and source. After a review of food processing methods and related rules and regulations, each participant will develop preliminary plans to source required products and supplies, practice aligning a food production plan with processing and marketing plans, and forecast a start-up budget and schedule. Designed especially for those considering small venture food processing, who may or may not have raised specialty crops or sold their farm produce. Co-consultants are Ann Trudel, Artisan Food Preserver and co-owner of Ann's Raspberry Farm & Specialty Crops and Sharon Sachs, Woman Farm owner. Group size is limited to five people so register early! $169.00
